Community Guidelines, Terms of Use, & Privacy Policy
Thank you for being part of the CAI Exchange. To ensure the best possible experience for all members, these basic guidelines for participation have been established. By joining and using this community, you agree that you have read and will follow these rules and guidelines. Questions should be directed to our Member Services department.

CAI is dedicated to maintaining a respectful and inclusive community. Please follow these guidelines when participating:

Be Kind
Please be polite to all members, even if you disagree with them. Focus on the content of posts and not on the people making them. Don’t post anything that is hateful, discriminatory, or invalidates experiences. Keep in mind that real people read your posts and comments.

Respect The Space
CAI is committed to making diversity, equity, and inclusion a core aspect in our membership, on our staffs, and within the community association housing model at large. We firmly believe in the unique strengths of every individual and that diversity makes organizations more successful and communities more fulfilling. By actively cultivating diversity, we benefit from a vastly richer mix of ideas, perspectives, and life experiences that expand our thinking and our possibilities. We strive to foster a culture of discovery, innovation, and service as we continue to focus on our mission to build better communities. Practice these principles and create a community that is welcome, uplifting, and informative.

Be Authentic
No matter how you connect to the association community, be yourself when creating your profile. Respect intellectual property. Share original content in your discussions, comments, and private messages and give credit to the author when sharing someone else’s work.

Be a Contributor
Help establish the CAI Exchange as a powerful tool in community associations by sharing successes, challenges, constructive feedback, thoughtful answers, and resources. State concisely and clearly the topic of your comments in the subject line. This allows members to respond more appropriately to your posting and makes it easier for members to search the archives by subject. Include a signature tag on all messages. Include your name, affiliation, location.

Be Safe
Protect your personal information. Any contact information you share in comments and discussions will be visible to everyone. If you want to share private contact information with another member, you are encouraged to use the private messaging feature and visit your privacy settings to choose what others see on your profile.

Moderation Guidelines
To provide a safe space for this community, discussions or comments may be removed at any time if community guidelines have been violated. Posts, comments, direct messaging, profile bios, or any media including photos, videos, and files that are defamatory, threatening, contain explicit content, or considered spam will be removed. Surveys may not be posted to any community, but CAI reserves the right to share the association’s surveys.

Self-promotion of programs, products, or services is not allowed. Members may not post jobs or resumes on any community. CAI representatives or members may promote CAI programs, products, or services. Jobs should be posted on the CAI Job Market. Additional action may be taken to limit a violator’s access to the forum. Using the Exchange for fundraising, marketing and advertising efforts is prohibited except by CAI, the Foundation for Community Association Research (FCAR) and CAMICB.

Sharing industry trends and resources is permitted.

CAI reserves the right to promote the association's programs, products, or service through any community resource including posts, announcements, library uploads, direct emails, and blogs.

Messages should not be posted if they encourage or facilitate members to arrive at any agreement that either expressly or impliedly leads to price fixing, a boycott of another's business, or other conduct intended to illegally restrict free trade. Messages that encourage or facilitate an agreement about the following subjects are inappropriate: prices, discounts, or terms or conditions of sale; salaries; profits, profit margins, or cost data; market shares, sales territories, or markets; allocation of customers or territories; or selection, rejection, or termination of customers or suppliers.

The intention of the CAI Exchange is to provide support to community association professionals. Any unrelated items that detract from the conversation may be removed at the discretion of CAI. We reserve the right to suspend or terminate membership in this community for anyone who violate these rules.

Help cultivate a safe and inclusive community by reporting discussions, replies, and members that you feel abuse or violate these guidelines.
